Loading Dock was formed by playwright / director / sound-designer Leegrid Stevens and actor Erin Treadway. We are based in Brooklyn where we rehearse and build shows. We create original plays that ultimately ask: when do belief and fantasy become necessary to survive? Is it better to believe or not?
The heart of our work explores character through narrative: how a character’s perspective creates a uniquely warped version of events. We often play with perspective, putting the audience inside a character’s mind, seeing the world as the character does. Using a strong sound design and experimental approach, we create stories in impossible locations like deep space, video games or the fractured memory of a damaged mind; plays with monsters, car crashes, demi-gods and mythology
Loading Dock also provides space for emerging artists to present original and untested work in front of an audience in a warm and inviting atmosphere, including serving as a venue for the annual Exponential Festival
